FabIS Support · Powered by Fabrication Information Systems
PowerFab answers, in one searchable place.
A closed forum for shops running Tekla PowerFab, run by the consultants who implement it. Ask the shops who do this every day, free. Paid plans add a private space for your shop and a guaranteed response from the FabIS team.
Coaching on running your shop in PowerFab, from the consultants who implement it. Tekla support handles software defects, licensing, and installation.
FabIS Support is coaching and community from Fabrication Information Systems. Tekla's own support team handles software defects, licensing, and installation. When a question belongs with them, we'll say so on the thread and point you there, so you're never waiting on the wrong people.
What we cover is the how: setup, workflow, and getting PowerFab to fit the way your shop actually runs.
FabIS Support answers the intermediate and advanced questions that come up once PowerFab is running your shop. Teaching the software itself — the setup, the first jobs, getting your people confident in it — is a different job, and we do it in your building rather than in a thread.
If you need the basics, a forum is the slowest way to get them. Say so and we will talk about coming out instead; onsite work is quoted separately.
Join Community at no cost. Step up to Support for a guaranteed response and a private space for your shop, or apply to have FabIS act as your PowerFab administrator. One plan covers everyone at your company.

Request an account
Your name, work email, company, and what you do. Once you're approved, you're in the forum.
2
Ask in the open
The public forum is the default for everyone, paid or free. Other shops get first crack at the question, and the answer stays searchable for whoever hits it next.
3
Escalate when it needs it
On a paid plan, your Support Contacts' questions get a guaranteed response from FabIS, public or private. When writing isn't getting there, we can offer a screen share.
Who we are
The people behind the answers
FabIS Support is run by the team at Fabrication Information Systems. We've implemented PowerFab in shops across the country, and we're the ones answering your questions.
Ricky Horton
Founder
Ricky has over 30 years in steel fabrication. After helping grow a fabricator from 10 to over 100 employees, he started Fabrication Information Systems in 2019 to focus on Tekla PowerFab, and has since implemented it in over 100 shops in the U.S. and abroad.
Jason Eatherton
PowerFab consultant
Jason brings shop-floor and software experience together. He worked extensively with FabTrol and then PowerFab, and at TrueNorth Steel he worked across six fabrication shops. Today he helps shops get the most out of PowerFab through implementation, training, and best practices.
Chris Randolph
PowerFab integrations and implementation
At Tekla, Chris designed and built nearly every major integration between PowerFab and other systems. Today he helps shops set up PowerFab and connect it to their machinery, nesting software, accounting, and ERP.

FabIS Pulse
Your whole shop, at a glance.
FabIS Pulse reads your Tekla PowerFab data and turns it into a handful of clear screens — estimating, production, project management, purchasing, inventory, and inspections. The health of your shop and your projects, without pulling 20 reports.

Import the combined material for a subbed-out package straight from the fabricator's PowerFab into the sub-fabricator's, so nobody keys it in again. Then station completions and shipping flow back, and the GC sees the work move without anyone typing it twice. Building the package only reads PowerFab; nothing is written until you say so.

Name-and-PIN punches in under five seconds on a wall iPad or a worker's phone. A supervisor fixes and approves the day, and the hours go into PowerFab through its own API — once, and never unreviewed. PowerFab stays the system of record.

“Which jobs are burning hours faster than the estimate?” Ask it in the app and get an answer grounded in your PowerFab data instead of raw SQL. Every answer shows the jobs and rows it came from, and nothing writes back without a person clicking OK.

Scan a piecemark with any phone. No scanners, no printers.
Scan piecemarks with the camera on any phone or tablet, with no barcode scanners or label printers to buy. Look up a piece to see where it is and what's next, record an inspection with a photo of the weld, build and ship loads from the dock, and move material without walking to the office. Time is recorded automatically as people work, and it flows back to estimating so you can see where your estimates need to change.
